Eating Kosher in San Diego

Without a doubt, with it's beautiful weather and great attractions like Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, Legoland and more, San Diego is a beautiful place to take a vacation. So what about the kosher consumer?

While there aren't a vast amount of options there are at least a few places to help the Kosher consumer in the area that are pretty appealing.

Located near San Diego State University you'll find The Place and The Dairy Place across the street from each other.

The Place features a full kosher market and butcher along with a meat restaurant with lots of delicious options. You order at the counter.

The Dairy Place is a family restaurant with excellent Pizza and Pasta options and other great dairy dishes. The service was excellent and they were even kind enough to stay open a little past closing time when we called ahead.

LocateKosher visits Boston!

As if you needed a reason to visit Boston, here's a few more:

The Milk Street Cafe is a fantastic lunch restaurant located in the heart of downtown Boston. The only kosher eatery in the downtown area, you wouldn't know it walking in. The decor is beautiful and the service is quick, not to mention absolutely fantastic food! There is a great selection of sandwiches, salads, soups and more, all dairy/vegetarian. Given their location they are providing to the lunch crowd and thus only open till 3pm. Apparently if you visit between 2-3, there is a discount on your order.

If you make your way over to the Brookline area, just outside of downtown on the train or by car, here's a few others we can recommend:

Cafe' Eilat makes a delicious New York style pizza, not to mention numerous other Italian dishes. They are priced reasonably and the service is very quick.

Rami's Falafel offers standard Israeli fare such as Shwarma, Kabob, and Falafel. The food is very good, but a little on the pricey side. Also, no credit cards accepted so make sure you grab some cash from the ATM first.

Taam China while in all honesty not being the best Chinese food, is decent and the prices are competitive. They also have a second location in another Jewish area in Boston, Newton so check for that address if you're going to be visiting the Newton area.

Eating Kosher in San Francisco

When it comes to eating kosher in the Bay Area in general, choices are pretty limited.

If you find yourself in San Francisco, there are currently 2 choices downtown:

The S.F. - New York Deli is a walk-up location right in Embarcadero Center. There is a lot to do in the area, so it's very convenient if you're visiting from out of town. The service is quick and the food is very tasty. A little on the pricy side, but there's nothing unusual about that in San Francisco.

Less than a mile away, you'll find the Sabra Grill, which has a typical Israeli restaurant menu. If you're looking for a sitdown meal in San Francisco, this is the one and only place. The prices are on the high side, even for Bay area standards, but there is no doubt of the convenience of the location.
